March is Youth Art Month!

The City of Clearwater participates in the national celebration of Youth Art Month by issuing a Proclamation each year in early March at a City Council meeting spotlighting the value of arts education in a student's overall success. As part of Clearwater’s recognition of the national observance, the “March is Youth Art Month K-8 Art Exhibition” is displayed at the Clearwater Main Library for the public to enjoy in the Carnegie and Osceola Galleries and the Youth Services area. The Clearwater Arts Alliance, in cooperation with Pinellas County Schools and the City, sponsors and coordinates the Exhibition, Awards and the Awards Reception in March each year in honor of the participating students. Their families, teachers and friends are invited to attend.

The event is to recognize the work of the young artists selected for the exhibition by teachers from entries throughout the county. Each student chosen to participate receives a certificate. The month-long observance emphasizes the benefit of arts education for all children—developing self-esteem, organizational skills, use of time and resources, appreciation of the work of others, cooperation and critical thinking skills, all of which are vital to the success of our future leaders—our children.
